'Allo. Welcome to New Feathers and all that. Still, Sokka I know you're busy with engagement stuff, I'm sure. So the others who work at the Smithy, can I get some help melting things down? It's a very big order.

And if anyone there has familiarity with machine gun rounds, that'd be good too.

About this Draft that happens. No one gets taken solo, right? Just at the same time as the others go off? How long can one of their stupid damn experiments go on anyway?

[A quiet mumble finishing it all up.] Thank you. [Though just as she cuts off there's some growling and grumbling about killing the Malnosso. Anyone looking for her might find her back from scanning the forest and mountains for a change and inside the bar. Actually drinking more than just her standard one or two careful sips of wine. Harder stuff at that.]

You are a... strong and competent woman, Ms. Mine. From what I can see, anyway. [Not that he's actually seen her fight, of course. But anybody who can stick up for herself with somebody like Raph staring her down has got to be tough.]

... If you really do plan to do this, I would suggest a contingency plan. Do you think it might be possible to have some kind of tracking device that would work even outside the barrier...?

[It's a non-violent solution to a problem. Ergo, it's something Robert doesn't mind assisting with. Though he's not entirely naïve to the idea that there won't be any fighting... Still, he's trying not to focus on that part.]

A small one that can fit in my bra and doesn't give off something that will alert the enemy, but can still reach all the way back into Luceti!

[Fitting in Fujiko's bra shouldn't be difficult. Robert mentally picks up the list of qualifications - it'd have to be subtle and small, not affected by Fujiko's body heat and the like (but perhaps still capable of reading it), with a signal that would be untraceable by most general purpose scanners...

... Difficult with substandard technology, but not impossible.]

I think the main issue will be a signal that can penetrate through whatever they use to sequester the kidnapped villagers from the rest of us...

... If it is beyond the barrier, I regret to say that I have absolutely no idea. My nanocomputer's signalling to Terra cannot seem to escape the barrier either...

Understood. Hm. I guess we'll find out then.

[Trails off with the usual "cute" lilt to her voice, but clearly lost in her own trains of thought.]

[Robert sighs and pushes his fingers through his hair with some frustration.] I wish I could do more, Ms. Mine... but I am so dreadfully limited in these circumstances, and I have never heard of any case where the barrier was breached, or at least not by any means that were obtained within it.

It's all right. You can check with the people who've been drafted, but from everything I hear, it involves the tunnels underground, and I'd rather not resort to that. Of course, the journals don't work that far, but the malnosso made these, they would tweak them to what they want.

Yes. You are absolutely correct. Though I know precious little in that regard, but I hope to expand my knowledge.

[Robert exhales heavily, staring down at his knees.] ... I hate feeling so profoundly helpless. Raphael... assisted me, once, and I would wish to do the same for him.

[Just a long echo of silence. Fujiko's used to always have to look strong even when she feels like she's breaking, and after she already had to rely on Master Splinter, she refuses to stumble again over the same thing.] We'll get him back. [Stated so tersely.] One way or another.

[Meanwhile, Robert is used to looking weak. He's used to it being something acceptable, to show all your feelings, and so he can't see why people tend to frown upon it now. Likewise, he expects other people to do so as well, and combined with his inability to read emotions that means he misses out on a lot.]
